Let It Be
Miracles do happen.
Miracles do happen. I am supposed to be editing a different essay this morning to share with you tomorrow, but I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the blessing that has been this week. Sure there have been some challenges to contend with, but they pale in comparison to the good.
The thing is, I canât tell you exactly what has happened, because Iâm afraid itâll mess it up. This long coveted blessing involves others, and Iâm not sure yet if theyâre okay with me sharing it. But I can tell you that there is nothing in the world that I wanted more than this one thing.
It was something that was completely out of my control, and yet I still had an influence through my inaction. By letting the situation beâby giving it time to run its course, it worked itself out. Now of course it was still on my mind almost constantly. I prayed on this for many yearsâso in a way, I was doing my part.
I think now, as I wipe tears of pure joy from my cheeks, that this is a lesson that I can apply to many thingsâeven the current obstacles I face at work.
I read and restacked Meredithâs essay/letter this morning and said, âMany times, the solution to your âproblemâ is more simple than you think.â
Meredith replied, âA wise person once said, life is simple we just make it complicated.â
Maybe most of the stuff that we think is screamingââHey look at me! You need to do something! What?! Donât just stand there, take action! You have too! You must!ââdoesnât necessarily need our attempt to intervene.
Sometimes having the wisdom fortitude to let things be, and accept them for what they are is the only action available. You canât make something what itâs not.
So this morning Iâm not only thankful for this awesome blessing thatâs been bestowed upon me and my Sweetheart, but also for the wisdom learned that enabled me to let it happen. Without Epictetus teaching me the Dichotomy of Control, I likely wouldâve spoiled this before it could come to fruition.
It says - "Some things are in our control, and others not. Things in our control are opinion, pursuit, desire, aversion, and, in a word, whatever are our own actions. Things not in our control are body, property, reputation, command, and, in one word, whatever are not our actions."
And now I must apply this to this lesson new obstaclesâI must stay centered on myself, and focus only on what I control. By focusing on my own presence, on what I control, and not reacting to negative promptsâI will then be untouched by them.
Negative energy is highly contagious, but the remedy to that negative energy is presence. Eckhart Tolle says that, âIntense presence is immune to the illness of negativity.â
And as Swamiji says, âKeep your thoughts in your divine center while you function in the world.â And, âThe body is bound to be affected by the heat or cold of the world outside. So is the mind affected by joy or sorrow. The intellect by honor or dishonor. But your Self within is immaculate. It remains ever unaffected by the attraction or repulsion of the changing world.â -A. Parthasarathy
You cannot make something what it isnâtâsometimes you have to just let it be. And who knows, there even may be a great reward at the end!

This was written back in June. Iâm not sure why itâs written in second person â maybe I was trying to create some distanceâŚ
